Abstract

331,008. Stille, C. Oct. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Magnetic records, duplicating.-Relates tn the duplication of magnetic sound records in the form of steel wires or bands. According to the invention, a number of duplicates of a record of this kind are simultaneously produced by passing the wires or bands 8, on which the copies are to be made, parallel to each other and close together across the wide pole 7 of a recording electromagnet 6 which is influenced by currents derived by moving the master record 2 past a reproducing magnet 4. In the arrangement shown, the wires 8 are guided by eyes 9 over the magnet pole 7, which is preferably formed like a comb, between the teeth of which the wires pass. The wires 8 are wound on to reels 11, which are mounted on a motor-driven shaft 12 which also carries the reel 3 on to which the master record 2 is wound. The magnet 4, past which the record 2 is moved, is connected to an amplifier 5, the output of which is connected to the magnet 6. A second magnet with a comb-like pole similar to that of the magnet 6 may be arranged over the latter, the teeth of the poles being adjacent.
