Abstract

338,232. Howse, G. H., and Howse, P. S. Aug. 23, 1929. Rotary mixers. -- A mixing, grinding, or crushing machine, comprises a rotatable drum in which a crushing unit is freely suspended, the unit having rollers mounted thereon in a floating manner so as to be movable radially, the unit being oscillated by the friction between the crushing members and the material under treatment. The rollers 20, which may be in sections and be plain or have a coarse screw thread surface, are mounted in slots 18 which may be radial or inclined to the radius, and are furnished with scrapers 21. In a machine comprising three rollers, one may be plain, another longitudinally grooved, while the third is circumferentially corrugated.
