Clutches, claw; operating clutches. - Clawclutch members are moved axially for disengagement by stopping the rotation of a loose ring having terminal inclined teeth. The angular movement of the ring relative to the clutch member may range up to nearly 360'. As applied to the haulage feed-mechanism for coal-cutting machines described in Specification 268,506, [Class 68 (i), Excavating earth &c.], the intermittently-rotated driving-member A and continuously-rotating driving-member B have clutch teeth 2, 3 to coact with teeth 2', 3' on a sleeve D, which is splined to the driven shaft C and is movable into engagement by a yoke engaging a groove 10. Loose rings A<1>, B<1> have inclined teeth 4<1>, 5<1> coacting with like teeth 4, 5 on the sleeve D, which is thus declutched when pivoted detents A<2>, B<2> are raised into engagement with peripheral teeth on the rings. To raise the detents against retracting-springs R, their tails 7 are depressed by a bar 8 pivotally carried by a pin L actuated by a hand-lever P. The inclined teeth on the rings A<1>, B' may alternatively coact with teeth on the wheels A, B.
