Abstract
303,402. Chapman, A. H., (Chapman, P. L.). Sept. 30, 1927. Percussive iools.-A removable cutter 1, Fig. 3, is held at the end of a jumper 3 transmitting the blow, by a sleeve 2 pressed downward by a spring 5 and provided with lugs 11 whereby the twist movement is transmitted to the cutter. Water is admitted through a port 19 in a ring 15 of metal, wood, or other material. Fig. 1 shows a modified device in which the upper end of the jumper is surrounded by a resilient ring 26 and a metal bush 27. The sleeve 2 is extended inside the water chamber, and the ring 15 is replaced by two resilient rings 24 separated by a metal ring 32. These rings and the ring 26 prevent leakage of water. In this modification the cutter is screwed into the lower end of the sleeve, Fig. 7, or may be jammed therein.
