Abstract

301,576. General Electric Co., Ltd., and Stanley, J. Sept. 19, 1927. Mounting.-A fan having oscillatory movement in one or two directions is arranged so that both the field and the amplitude of the oscillatory movement can be varied. As applied to a fan of the type described in Specification 209,530. A slow motion shaft 12 in the motor casing 2 carries a crank the ball pin 14 of which runs in a socket 15 carried by a pivoted bracket 16 thereby imparting oscillatory movements in two directions to the motor casing 2 and fan 11. The whole is pivoted at 8 upon a support 9 and can be secured in different angular positions on the support. The bracket 16 has an arcuate slot in which the socket 15 can be moved and secured to vary the field of the transverse oscillations. The crank 13 carrying the ball pin 14 is made up of two plates pivoted and secured together so that the throw of the crank can be varied between zero and a maximum. The socket 15 for the ball pin is spun over above the ball end, Fig. 6, to secure the ball in place and to provide a reservoir for lubricating oil.
