Abstract
306,398. Swiss Locomotive & Machine Works. Feb. 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Starting and stopping pumps automatically.- The driving motor of an electrically driven. compressor is automati. cally cut out at a predetermined maximum pressure in a storage vessel and cut in at a predetermined minimum pressure by a piston-operated switch 10, the supply of pressure-fluid to which is controlled by independent inlet and outlet valves 1, 6 actuated by the direct action of the fluid pressure and located in a conduit having a connection 7 to the cylinder of the piston 8. The pressure-fluid coming from the storage vessel by a pipe 3 opens the inlet valve 1 and, closing the outlet valve 6, passes by the conduit 7 to the piston 8 which thereupon opens the switch 10. When the pressure falls slightly the inlet valve 1 closes but the piston 8 remains exposed to the pressure, fluid by a branch pipe 2 until the pressure falls sufficiently for the outlet valve 6 to open, whereupon. the piston moves to close the switch 10. The pipes 2. 7 are formed with restricted passages. Screws 14, 15 permit the adjustment of the pressures at which the valves 1, 6 open.
