Abstract

297,206. Etchells, J., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Aug. 31, 1927. Lock nuts.-A nut is provided with a groove or channel within which slidably fits a locking bar of corresponding cross sectional shape and which is formed on its surface with a screw thread corresponding to that of the nut, the said groove extending completely through the nut and the locking bar projecting beyond the faces of the nut. The groove 3 of dove-tailed shape in cross section extends through a nut 1 and carries a locking bar 4 having a screw thread 5 corresponding to the screw thread 6. The bar 4 extends beyond the faces of the nut so that when an end face engages the work the bar is forced up to grip and lock the nut, against slackening. The groove may be made so as to retain the bar permanently within the nut; also a number of grooves equally spaced around the nut may be used each accommodating the corresponding locking member.
