273,076. Ellis, A. G., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. June 7, 1926. Transformers.-In an electric cable connecting device, of the kind comprising a sealing chamber 25 in which a cable end 29 is sealed with solid insulating material, an oil box 11 containing a detachable link 19, and insulating bushings 17, 23, a passage is provided between the oil box 11 and the main oil tank 13, containing a transformer or other oil-immersed apparatus, to allow of the free and uncontrolled flow of oil. The passage may be in the form of a pipe 27 or an opening 39, and in each of these cases the oil box 11 may act as an expansion chamber for the oil in the main tank.
