Abstract
201,529. Forges et Ateliers de Constructions Electriques de Jeumont Soc. Anon. July 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Cable couplings; junction - boxes. - Joints between high-tension cables A<1>, A<2> are enclosed in leak-proof junction-boxes which are filled with insulating material under pressure after the formation of a vacuum in the junction-box. The junction-box D is hermetically sealed around the joint and cables by gaskets or lead joints, and rings G may be soldered or welded to the sheathing of the cables and incorporated in the lead joints. The box is connected to an air pump by a pipe H and valve K ar.d by a pipe and valve M to a closed vessel I containing fluid insulating material under pressure from compressed air in a pipe N. After the exhaustion and filling of the junction-box the pipes are disconnected and plugs screwed on to the pipes h, m with which the box is fitted. The joint described comprises " fan-shaped members " on the ends of the lead sheath to minimize risk of breakdown along the bared insulation of the cable by a better distribution of lines of electric force.
