Developing; trays, dishes, and containers. -Sensitive layers of the kind which are devel. oped by the action of gases are developed more rapidly by moistening them slightly with a liquid containing the developing gas, preferably in the presence of the developing gas in the free state. For example, a film of the kind described in Specification 210,862, which is developed with an alkaline gas such as ammonia, is more rapidly developed if moistened with an aqueous solution of ammonia. The operation may be performed in a closed casing 1 wherein the sensitive sheet, after its introduction through the slot 6, passes between a rotating roller 2 and an endless, non-absorbent, moving band, 4, which is moistened by a roller 8 with developing liquor contained in a dish 5. The developed sheet is discharged from the casing through a slot 7.
