Abstract
An electrical control device 1 for dispensing cutting fluids comprises a mains water inlet 4, a mixer unit 8, and a fill head 10. A float switch in the fill head 10 closes a solenoid valve in the control device 1 when the correct amount of fluid has been delivered to prevent spillage.
Description

I

Sheet 1 2434358 Title Fluid dispenser.

Background

The current method of dispensing cutting fluids from a barrel (see fig 1.2) is controlled solely by a manually operated tap (see fig 1.1). This method frequently leads to large spillages of fluid in the workshop area (see fig 1.3) as the tap is often left unattended during the filling process.

Consequently there is a high possibility of the spillage leading to the contamination of local waterways and domestic water supply (due to a siphon effect) and also creates a slip hazard within the working area.

Statement of Invention

A small wall mounted unit for the automatic dispensing of fluids (see fig 2.1). This achieved by the manual operation of a switching circuit, which opens a solenoid valve allowing the fluid to pass through a non-return * valve to the fill head. Once the required amount of fluid has been dispensed the float switch (see fig 2.2) triggers an automatic switching circuit and closes the solenoid valve stopping the flow of fluid to the fill head. Once the cycle is complete the switching circuit will automatically reset ready for the next cycle.

Advantages 1. Will help create a safer, cleaner working environment.

2. Represents a considerable cost saving in time and materials required to clear up spills.

3. Very low running cost.

4. Reduces the risk of environmental contamination caused by spillages.

5. Reduces the risk contamination to the mains water supply.

6. Fully automated so requires no operation during filling.

7. Simple installation.

8. Small compact design.

9. Quick return on investment.

Detailed Description

An electrically controlled device (see fig 3.1) fitted into the mains water supply line between the mains water tap and the mixer unit. The control device contains an electrical switching circuit incorporated in a no-volt release switch module activated by a manually operated switch (see fig 3.2). Pressing this switch allows mains water to flow in Fig 3.4 and out of the device (see fig 3.7), this is controlled by an electrically controlled valve. The fluid then passes through a non-return valve contained within the device and into an existing mixer unit (see fig 3.8) via an umbilical hose assy (see fig 3.6). The mixed fluid then continues to the fill head (see fig 3.10) via 2' stage umbilical hose assy (see fig 3.9). An external fluid sensor contained within the fill head and connected into the device sensing that the required amount of fluid has been delivered deactivates the electrical switching circuit. The switch (see fig 3.2) automatically switches off, and the electrically controlled valve closes. A neon light (see fig 3.5) illuminates to indicate that the valve is closed. Resetting the switch (see fig 3.2) manually will allow further quantities of fluid to be delivered into empty containers. An alternative switch is contained within the switch module (see fig 3.3) to deliver smaller quantities of fluid independently of the external fluid sensor, if required. The device is protected against the unlikely event of electrical overload or short circuit, by means of a rocker switch/circuit breaker (see fig 3.11). Claim
