Abstract

A toilet seat assembly comprises a toilet seat, lid and fittings such that, in use, the seat and lid may be removably attached to a toilet pan by means of a lockable base clamp. Preferably, the clamp is attached to the pan and incorporates a plurality of shoulders which mate with a plurality of cams on the seat and lid. Unlike the conventional arrangement, this assembly provides for easy removal of the seat and lid e.g. for cleaning.

DESCRIPTION
Toilet seat hinge and fixings This Invention relates to an easily removable base clamp to hold a toilet seat and lid to the pan The difficulty in re-fitting toilet seats dissuades many people from removing them for sanitizing, with that and the hinges continually loosening and finally falling apart, the only option seems to buy a new seat complete.
According to the present Invention there is provided an easily removable base clamp to secure the seat and lid to the Toilet Pan.
The seat (fig 2) is securely held by several cams. These interlock with corresponding shoulders on the base plate clamp (fig3) The base plate clamp has two serrated slots with grooves above to lock the anchor bolts (fig 4) The anchor bolts (fig 4) have grooves under the rectangular heads to mate with the grooves in the base plate clamp (fig3) Base plate clamp has notches to receive a Cover (fig 5) for the anchor bolts (fig 4) and a recess either end for attachment of the Lid (fig6) The Lid (fig6) has fixing pins at rear corners so that when it is closed the fixings are hidden The seat underside (fig 2) has an inward chamfer to fit snugly on the pan.
Fig 1 shows the seat, clamp, lid and cover.
Fig 2 shows the cams and chamfer on seat.
Fig 3 shows the Base Clamp, its slots with notches & grooves and shoulders to receive cams of seat.
Fig 4 shows the rectangular headed bolts with grooves under the head.
Fig 5 shows the cover for the Base Clamp.
Fig 6 shows the lid with rear fixing pins.

Claims (8)

1. An easily removable contoured toilet seat and fittings comprising of a lid, contoured seat, locking base clamp, securing bolts and cover with means for releasably securing to toilet pan.
2. A removable toilet seat as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a locking mechanism is provided by the locking base clamp that fixes to toilet pan.
3. A removable toilet seat as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein the locking base clamp incorporates the swivel points for seat and lid.
4. A removable toilet seat as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein catchment means are provided on the clamp for arresting the sideways movement of the seat.
5. A removable toilet seat as claimed in Claim 4 wherein catchment means are also chamfed into the seat
6. A removable toilet seat as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the seat is provided with several swivel points (cams) that mate with the locking base plate.
7. A removable toilet seat as claimed in Claim 6 wherein the clamp is secured with special bolts that fit the standard fixing holes in the toilet pan.
8. A removable toilet seat substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-6 of the accompanying Drawing.
