Abstract
A laser excitation lamp has a discharge tube and a heat-operated cathode formed as a pin. A reduction of the gas spatial volume occurs in the region of the pin cathode. The reduced volume covers the zone extending along the pin completely or partly and between the cathode entrance seal and 3 mm in front of the cathode. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a pump light source comprising an incandescent pin cathode.
