Abstract

A dome or half sphere preferably for use to magnify pond and aquarium fish, has a sealed lip at its base and a plug at its apex. A dome may be made of a transparent plastic which rides on the surface of pond or aquarium water after full immersion, due to air in the sealed lip. The immersion effect fills the bell cavity of the dome. The dome is seated in the water in an inverted position. As it rises above the water surface level the aperture at its apex is plugged thereby ensuring that the water is retained in the cavity.

Description

2401 1 95 The Aquadome Pond and aquaria fish can be difficult to observe
on occasions unless close up scrutiny is possible; often is it not. The Aquadome solves this problem thereby enabling the viewer to observe fish in a magnified setting without intervention into the water environment.
The Aquadome allows a viewer to assess the state of fish for health and other purposes and increases the enjoyment traditionally associated with fish keeping as a recreation.
The integrity and welfare of the fish are preserved by the absence of any interference in their environment.
Design The Aquadome comprises a half sphere of non-permeable transparent material which is buoyant, non-biodegradable and non-toxic and into the apex of which, is inserted a plug.
The Aquadome has a lip around its circumference and which is sealed to the intent that the device is buoyant because of trapped air within the lip.
Process By immersing the Aquadome into water through depression whilst the half sphere is inverted, the device fills up.
Once filled, the device is secured by inserting the plug at the apex of the dome. The cavity remains filled because of gravitational force allowing the sphere to rise to the level of the circumference lip. Downward gravitational force keeps the plug in place and prevents the water from escaping.
Effect The Aquadome remains seated on the water surface and floats with water filling the dome. The fish swim into the dome and because of the spherical shape and presence of water, the image becomes magnified.
Better visibility at longer range is thereby accomplished allowing inspection by the viewer for health checks and enhanced pleasure from the recreational pursuit of fish keeping. The Aquadome itself constitutes an adjunct to the pond or aquarium altering its profile and applications.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A dome or half sphere comprising a sealed lip at its base and
plug at its apex enabling it to be immersed in water, rise to the surface whilst retaining water within the dome's cavity.
  2. 2. A dome according to Claim 1 whose sealed base lip contains sufficient trapped air to enable the device to be buoyant at all times whilst containing water within its cavity
  3. 3. A dome according to Claim 1 that acts as a result of gravitational force and is constructed of non-permeable transparent material
  4. 4. A dome according to Claim 3 that retains trapped water within it by means of the insertion of a plug into the apex that seals the device
