Abstract
A clip for securing shoe lace knots, comprising two plates connected via a sprung hinge. The two plates may be brought together around a knot to enclose it. Preferably the plates are lined with felt to provide a cushioned surface. The plates may have a locking mechanism to fasten the plates together, along with interlocking studs to prevent movement of the lace within the clip.
Description
LACE LOCK CLIP.
Introduction:
The lace lock clip illustrated on the following pages is designed to stop shoe laces from becoming undone and endangering the user by accidentally stepping on the laces and falling over. It can also be used on children's shoes to stop them undoing their laces for the same reasons or losing their shoes. Its advantages over the existing lace locks systems are -: it is easy to use -enabling the user to install and uninstall in no more time than it takes to tie the shoes.
-It is of a fashionable design that may enhance the appeal of the shoe.
-It can be used on any lace.
-It does not wear out the lace.
-It maintains the lace's classic ioop knot that gives the shoe character.
Description
The Lace-Lock Clip consists of two fish. shaped plates joined by two hinges as shown.
They are also spring loaded so that they swing open as soon as the small locking mechanism is pressed. Inside the two plates are lined with felt providing a firm cushioned surface. There are also studs which interlock like a crocodile's teeth when the two plates shut as illustrated in fig 2B Operation: The Lace lock Clip is placed on a shoe while it is open and the lace is tied as shown in figure 3A. After the knot is secured, the upper plate is shut, pressed and locked in place by means of the lock as in Fig 3B.
The felt bedding on the inside of the plates hold the knot firmly in place to stop it from undoing while the interlocking studs restrict movement of the lace while the shoe is in use, further reducing the likelihood of the lace becoming undone.
Removal.
To remove the Lace lock clip, the user simply presses the release lock and the Lace Lock clip swings open due to the spring action -giving instant access to the lace for untying.
