Abstract

The invention relates to a rolling bearing. The invention comprises a rolling bearing comprising a split inner ring 2, 3 retained by an installation sleeve 6, wherein the installation sleeve abuts against bore surfaces of the inner ring halves under radial preloading, in which the installation sleeve comprises a pocket 12 for a retaining pin 10 co-operating with the outer ring.

Description

1 ROLLING BEARING 2327471 The invention relates to a rolling bearing.
DE 1747260U already discloses holding together the split inner ring in a ball bearing by means of an installation sleeve. on the one hand, the sleeve serves as transport protection and, on the other hand, it facilitates assembly in that by being fitted, for example, on a shaft it is pushed by the latter itself from the bore of the inner ring. After assembly, the installation sleeve is a captive auxiliary component, whereby it would be possible for it to be allocated further tasks.
It is an object of the invention to devise an installation sleeve for a rolling bearing to be secured by a retaining pin, which sleeve enables secure retention of all components.
This object is achieved in that the installation sleeve has a pocket for a retaining pin co-operating with the outer ring.
This and other features will be described below with reference to the example of embodiment illustrated in the drawing.
The single figure shows a partly sectional side view in perspective of a ball bearing with an installation sleeve. The rolling bearing comprises an outer ring 1, a split inner ring 2, 3 and a cage 4 disposed therebetween containing balls 5. An installation sleeve 6 with peripherally spaced axial ribs 7 is pressed into the bore defined by the two inner ring halves 2, 3, which sleeve holds the inner ring halves 2, 3 together in a force-locking manner. The installation sleeve 6 is made from plastics material and is designed to be flexible.
A pocket 9 is provided in the bore surface 8 X which accommodates a retaining pin 10. During installation, the pin 10 co- operates with a corresponding groove 11 in the outer ring (not shown) and serves as an anti-rotational installation feature. The pocket 9 is formed by two axially extending clamping tongues 12 which are formed integrally during the injection moulding of the 6. Between them the clamping tongues 12 form a profile adapted to the retaining pin 10 and are arranged resiliently in a peripheral direction. The retaining pin 10 can thereby be snap-fitted into the pocket 9. As a result of the resilience of the tongue 12, the pocket 9 provides force-locking retention in an axial direction and position-locking retention in a radial direction.
It can be easily removed for installation of the rolling bearing.
As a result of the solution according to the invention the relevant retaining pin 10 is always enclosed with the bearing.

CLAIMS:
1. A rolling bearing comprising a split inner ring retained by an installation sleeve, wherein the installation sleeve abuts against bore surfaces of the inner ring halves under radial preloading, in which the installation sleeve comprises a pocket for a retaining pin co-operating with the outer ring.
2. A rolling bearing according to claim 1, in which the pocket is formed by two clamping tongues projecting from the bore surface of the installation sleeve.
is
3. A rolling bearing according to claim 1 or claim 2, in which the clamping tongues extend substantially axially and hold the retaining pin axially in a force locking manner and radially in a position-locking manner.
4. A rolling bearing according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the installation sleeve is produced in one piece from plastics material.
5. A rolling bearing substantially as hereinbefor described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
