Rotating - tool machines. - A machine for treating sheet materials, and especially hides, skins and leather, of the type in which the work or any part of it can be operated on repeatedly without removal, includes a working- cylinder or cylinders 42, 44, work-supporting and feeding means including a bed roll 20 and a feed roll 28, the former being removable from a workreceiving to a work-clamping position and vice versa, and power means for causing predetermined pressure on the work between the cylinders and bed roll. The feeding-roller, the rear cylinder 42, and the movable front cylinder 44 are each adjustably spring-pressed towards the bed roller. The bed roller and the movable cylinder are moved to the operative position and in the reverse direction to the work-receiving position by the ecentrics 88, 100 mounted on the shaft 86. The rear cylinder is driven in the opposite direction to the front cylinder and thus, whichever way the work is being fed, one of the operating-cylinders which are driven faster than the feeding rollers, will be rotating in the opposite direction to the direction of travel of the work. The necessary halfrotation of the shaft 86 is controlled by the cam block 242 in conjunction with the cam wheel 246, the mechanism being controlled by the treadle 226. The direction of rotation of the feeding- roller is controlled by the lever 300 which moves a double cone operating alternative clutches.
