Abstract

A hollow rectangular or square building block 1 , reinforced by webs 3 , and open at the top and bottom ends , with cut - outs 2 , is provisioned to accept joining bracket / clips 10 at the top and bottom ends of each block. Joining bracket / clips 10 are designed to secure four building blocks at adjacent corners; half bracket clips 8 and 9 are used for wall end sections. Spikes help in accepting loads and maintaining position of the blocks. The blocks, being hollow , allow for additional support by wooden or steel pillars 6; also tie bars or cable 7. Similar blocks may be used for flooring, or underneath roof tiles.

Description

This invention relates to building blocks, used in the construction of buildings without the use of cement.
Buildings are expensive in construction for two major reasons,; costs of materials and skilled labour, also time taken in construction.
This invention remedies both major costs, by the cheapness of material, use of unskilled labour and rapid construction process.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which; Figure 1 shows in perspective the building block, method of construction of a wall with joining brackets / clips.
Figure 2 a similar building block used in constructing a floor area.
Figure 3 a similar building block used with a special tile in constructing a building roof.
Refering to the drawings figure 1.
The hollow rectangular or square building block 1, reinforced by webs 3, with cut outs 2, and manufactured of chipboard or other composite material shows the block construction, the blocks are held in the desired position by base plates lla, secured to the floor by fasteners.
The building blocks are shown sectioned indicating a method of construction where four blocks are joined by one brackets clip 10, at the adjacent corners, provision is made for the brackets clips by cut outs 2, at each end of a block top and bottom edges.
The blocks being hollow allow additional load bearing pillars 6, to be placed, steel or wood, and tie bars or cable 7, if required, where wall sections end half bracket / clips 8 and 9, are used.
The bracket/clips 10, shown is an "I" bar construction with the flanges bent round giving a spring like snap onto the internal walls of the blocks, consequently the flanges take side loads in all directions, the centre plate joining the flanges accepts loads including vertical loads from all directions, the spikes 11, give additional security. The bracket / clips flanges are angled 4, and crimped 5, to accept blocks easily.
Refering to the drawings figure 2.
Shows a similar building block 1, used in constructing a floor area in this case secured by screws 13, washers 15, and blanking caps 14.
The blocks are placed on planks 20, secured to the floor joist 12, and secured by the method shown.
Outer edges of the floor area are held firm by the skirting board 17.
Referring to the drawings figure 3.
Shows a similar building block 1, used in constructing a roof in conjunction with a special tile 25. The tile secures the block by fasteners 22 to roof joist 24 shaped to hold the block firmly, the block gives added support to the tile, the tile uses the labyrinth type seal design on the top vertical edge 21 and underside face of the lower longitudinal edge 21, tiles are clipped at two opposite corners ensuring close contact of all tiles on assembly.
Packing plate 23, ensures block sits squarely to the joist 24, also added support for the block and roof structure.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. I claim a hollow rectangular or square building block, open at the top and bottom ends and reinforced by webs internally which when used in conjunction with joining brackets clips provisioned for, by cut outs at the top and bottom ends of each block will construct a building wall, the building block being manufactured of chipboard or other composite material.
  2. 2. A joining bracket/clip what accepts loads from all directions and joins the building blocks at four adjacent corners, half brackets/clips for wall end sections and base plates to establish block position.
  3. 3. A similar building block used in the construction of dwelling floors in this case affixed by screws, washers and blanking caps.
  4. 4. A similar building block used in conjunction with special tiles, asphalt or water proofing material for building roofs.
  5. 5. A building block that will accept all types of wall covering, either in manufacture or when assembled.
  6. 6. A hollow rectangular or square building block substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
