Abstract

230,870. Pantoflicek, B. March 17, 1924, [Convention date]. Ordnance breech mechanism.-To prevent flame and gases from penetrating the breech mechanism, the firing-pin is formed with a back-pressure valve and with a piston in front of the valve. As shown, the rebounding firing pin 5 is formed with a valve surface 7, adapted to engage a valve seating 8, and with a piston 3 sliding in a cylindrical bore 9. The point of the firing pin when in the rear position lies flush with the face of the breech. The firing pin is mounted in a removable plug 1 having a flange 2 engaging a corresponding surface on the breechpiece 4.
