Abstract

A door closer for mounting between a door leaf 3 and a door frame 8, has a housing 2, and a biasing element 1 disposed in and connected to the housing 2, and a chain 4. The chain 4 has one end connected to the biasing element 1 and another end for mounting to the door frame 8. The chain 4 has a plurality of link elements 5 mutually connected together, where each link element 5 has, two opposing ends, 10. Each end 10 of the links 5 has a shoulder portion, 11, which are adapted to abut when the chain 4 is bent around a particular arc or radius. In another embodiment the chain 4 has links 5 having male (26; fig 7) and female portions (27; fig 7) on the opposed ends (21,22; fig 7).
