Abstract

This invention relates to apparatus and a method for the remote reading of utility meters, such as gas, electricity or water meters. In association with each utility meter there is provided means for generating a signal indicative of the meter reading 8 and means for transmitting said signal along a utility supply conduit 13. Means are provided for retransmitting said signal 19. Means are provided for collection of data relating to said signal from a plurality of utility meters.
