Abstract

The terminal has a transmitter connected to the consumers telephone line to transmit information to the line. The terminal metering unit(s) are each adapted to produce a meter signal indicative of the consumption measured by its meter. A transporter responds to a command signal received over the line to cause one or more of the meter signals stored in a storage device to be transmitted to the line. A utility management system has central processor to transmit control signals to and receive information from a number of the utility management terminals.
