Abstract

A device 1 comprising a member, such as a glove, mounted on part of the user and having an external cleaner 3, 6 over at least part of its external surface. The device 1 helps to facilitate cleaning. The member is preferably adapted to be worn on a finger, thumb or hand of the user and may be made of rubber. The external cleaner 3, 6 is preferably a scourer that may be secured on the palm side of the glove and/or fingers and/or thumb that is preferably a sponge or made of woven metal/fabric. The glove may also incorporate gripping means 7.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
A CLEANING DEVICE The invention relates to a cleaning device.
It is often desired to clean an item of crockery, glass or the like of adhered foodstuffs whilst washing, such foodstuffs being particularly resistant to removal and frequently persisting even, if available, after a wash cycle in a dish-washer. Cleaners such as woven wire or cloth cleaners are known, but they are unsightly items which are often in any event too large to clean some parts of a vessel, for example the neck of a bottle.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to seek to mitigate this disadvantage.
According to the invention there is provided a device for facilitating cleaning, comprising a member adapted for mounting on part of a user and having an external cleaner over part at least of its external surface area.
Using the invention it is possible to provide for manual cleaning of a vessel having persistent, adhered foreign matter.
The member may be adapted for mounting on a finger or thumb of a user.
This provides for one or a plurality of discrete device (s).
The member may comprise a glove adapted for mounting on a hand of a user.
This provides for both a combined washing up glove and a cleaner.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
The external cleaner may comprise a scourer. This provides for a rubbing/scouring action, though the cleaner could be a polisher too.
There may be a scourer on each finger of the glove. This provides for a general cleaning action.
There may be a scourer on a palm part of the glove. This is a relatively simple construction that provides for additional cleaning action.
The scourer may comprise a plurality of discrete scourers on a palm part of the glove.
The or each scourer may be mounted on the palm of the glove, spaced from the fingers. This facilitates use of the palm as a separate cleaner.
There may be a grip means of the device. This facilitates gripping of an object during cleaning, particularly if the grip means is situated between the scourer and the fingers.
The or each scourer and/or the grip means may be a discrete element secured to the external surface of the glove by securing means. This provides a relatively simple means of construction, particularly when the securing means may comprise an adhesive, such as a cyanoacryl adhesive.
Devices for facilitating cleaning are hereinafter described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a palm of a device in the form of a glove according to the invention; and
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 of a second embodiment.
Referring to the drawings, in which like parts are referred to by like reference numerals, there is shown a device 1 in the form of a rubber glove, for facilitating cleaning, comprising a member 2 adapted for mounting on part of a user, in this case a hand (not shown) and having an external cleaner 3 over part at least of its external surface area.
In the embodiment, the member 2 is a glove often used in households for washing up, cleaning etc. , and which for example may comprise a black nitrile coated rubber with an interwoven cotton, usually a lining, to prevent sweating.
On each finger 4 and thumb 5 of the glove 2 is the external cleaner 3 in the form of a cleaning pad which is secured to the external surface of each finger 4 and thumb 5 by suitable adhesive means such as a cyanoacryl adhesive.
Each pad 3 is a discrete scourer which is suitably woven from metal or fabric material, or may be a sponge item, which is secured to the external surface of an external (in use) surface of the glove.
The scourer 3 may extend over a part of the surface area corresponding to the ball of a finger, or may extend over the length of a finger as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2.
There may be an additional cleaning means in the form of a scourer 6 secured to the palm of the glove, as shown in Fig. t, and there may also be means 7 for enhancing gripping of an object being cleaned, in the embodiment being situated between the base of the fingers 4 and the scourer 6.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
In use, the glove 2 is pulled onto the hand, and then can be use for cleaning a vessel for example by rubbing the scourer (s) 3 on the index finger vigorously against the extraneous or foreign matter which is adhered as by cooking to a vessel such as a cooking pot. By rubbing with the index finger with the scouring pad on the foreign matter, that foreign matter can be removed. The gripping means 7 allows an object such as a cooking vessel to be held safely whilst cleaning is taking place. Thus no separate cleaning means is required.
It will also be understood that there may be modifications. Thus the scourer 3 may be an integral part of the glove 2, for example moulded during moulding of the glove. Also, the device may be a discrete finger"stall", other than a glove, as described with reference to the figures.
Also, there may be a scourer 3 on both the inside (palm side) and the outside (back of the hand side) of the glove 2.
Where there is a pair of gloves, one may be used for gripping an object to be cleaned, and the other may be for cleaning that object.
