Abstract
237,556. Haysun, C. H. M. Jan. 12, 1925, [Convention date]. Lift-valves; locking catches.-In a chilling-chamber for carcasses of meat &c. wherein a positive circulation of the air in a closed cycle is effected by a fan, the air inlet and outlet openings in the floor and ceiling respectively are controlled by adjustable valves 8, 9 of improved construction. The inlet valves comprise discs 8 carried on stems 18, Fig. 4, which may be threaded for manual adjustment in the crossmember 17 of a bushing 16 secured in the floor opening by a flange 14. Preferably, however, the valve is adjustably set by engaging a cross-pin 21 on the stem with one of a series of steps 19 on a member on the bushing, the pipes being adjustable in length and also angularly about T- pieces. The outlet valve comprises a disc 9, Fig. 8, loosely mounted on a stem 23 adjustable in the top of a bushing 28, the disc having pins 25 engaging holes in the bushing and ceiling so as to centre the valve during adjustment. In a modified form of inlet valve, the stem below the disc is fitted with curved vanes serving to give a whirling motion to the air and to guide the valve in the bushing.
