Abstract

A sanding glove or mitten 12 includes hook-and-pile (velcro (RTM)) pads on the fingers 2, thumb 4 and palm 3 of the hand to which are attachable velcro-backed abrasive sanding pads for hand sanding. The velcro pads are effectively hinged together by the glove fabric to allow free movement of the fingers and hand. In one form, the entire gripping face of the glove may be formed of velcro and in a preferred form, a velcro patch (14, figure 9) is provided on the rear of the glove for the attachment of spare sanding pads. Also described are a velcro-covered glove for securing velcro-covered objects and a velcro-covered sanding block to allow the attachment of velcro-backed sanding pads.

Description

PAD HOLDER [Technical field] This invention relates to a Velcro (RTM) glove or mitten for holding Velcro backed abrasive sanding pads for hand sanding [Background] Abrasive sanding pads are used in all industries for achieving a smooth surface finish, there are many hand held electrical tools which are made to hold sand paper abrasives for carrying out this work.
1. The disadvantage of using electrical sanding tools is they arc only good for a flat surface.
2. Electrical sanding tools are clumsy and difficult, sometimes impossible to use in a confined place.
3. Final finish is always best achieved by hand and feel.
4. The only problem with hand sanding is the abrasives wears away the skin from your fingers and can be very painful, most times this happens without realizing until it is to late, taking several days to recover from this type of injury, which can result in the possible loss of work.
[Essential According to the present invention there is provided a Velcro Sanding Glove for Technical attaching Velcro backed Abrasives to the hands, the sanding glove also protects the Features hands from coming in contact with the Abrasive face of the sand paper.
Figure 1. Shows a glove or mitten with the palm side of the glove covered with Velcro patches.
Figure 2. Shows a glove or mitten with the palm maid from Velcro Figure 3. Shows the glove with one finger abrasive sanding pad attached to the index finger.
Figure 4. Shows the glove or mitten with abrasive sanding pad attached to the fingers and palm.
Figure 5. Shows the glove with a two finger abrasive sanding pad attached to the index & middle finger.
Figure 6. Shows the glove or mitten with an abrasive sanding pad attached between the fingers and thumb.
Figure 7. Shows a sanding block securely attached to the palm of the glove. Figure 8. Shows a sanding block with male Velcro attached to both longitudinal sides of the block and bottom surface, the top of the block is covered with female Velcro.
Figure 9. Shows the back of a sanding glove with a Velcro pad 14 for storing spare pads.
Figure 10. Shows the back of a sanding glove with a one finger abrasive pad 5 and a two fingered abrasive pad 6 attached to the Velcro storing pad. ****************** Referring to the drawings Fig 1.1 shows a glove or mitten 12 with male Velcro attached to the fingers 2, thumb 4, and palm of the hand 3 to allow fefnale Velcro backed abrasive pads to be attached to the glove or mitten. The material of the glove acts as a hinge between the Velcro pads allowing the hand to be clenched with free movement of the fingers and thumb to form any necessary shape to suit the contour to be sanded. The front of the glove Fig 2.1 or mitten 12 can be completely made from male Velcro. Fig 3. 5 Shows abrasive finger pad attached to the index finger for sanding small area in confined places. Fig 5 6 is a two fingered pad attached to the index and middle finger for a more accessible area, Fig 4.7 is a standard Velcro backed abrasive pad attached to the fingers and palm of the hand for large flat areas of sanding, Fig 6.8 abrasive pad held between the fingers and thumb for sanding round edges. As the sanding pad wears simply pull it off the Velcro glove and stick a new one on. The sanding glove protecting the hands at all times allowing more pressure to be applied to the abrasive sanding pads.
There is also provided a sanding block Fig 8. which has male Velcro attached to both longitudinal sides 13 and the bottom face of the block, to allow the female back 10 of an abrasives sanding pad 7 to be attached to the bottom of the block, the top of the block 11 is covered with female Velcro to allow the block to be attached and securely held in the palm of the sanding glove Fig 7 for sanding flat surfaces. The sanding glove ! also has a male Velcro patch on the back of the hand Fig 9.14 for storing abrasive sanding pads Fig 10. 5 & 6.
