Abstract

A plastics framework 1-4 serves for holding a plurality of paving or edging blocks 5 in place as a single unit when setting out. Horizontal ribs 2 may be severed as required, e.g. alternate ones, to enable the framework to be bent in a horizontal or vertical direction. Preformed shapes may also be used.

Description

Block Paving and Edsine Former This Invention relates to a Block Paving and Edging Former Current methods require extensive netting out and levelling of edges prior to the actual process of laying the blocks within the edges. This invention greatly reduces the setting out time, reduces the amount of certain materials required and reduces the level of skill required of the person who is performing the task.
According to the present invention there is provided a Block Paving and Edging Former comprising a plastic framework which secures each Block or Edging firmly in place adjacent to its neighbour such that a series of Blocks or Edgings can be utilised as a single unit when setting out, the framework can be readily adapted to introduce. an element of flexibility to accommodate curves and complex shapesthe Former can also be produced in pre-formed shapes.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to accompanying drawing in which
f Figure 1 shows in perspective the Former with Blocks or Edgings secured in place.
Figure 2 shows an adaptation of the Former to introduce horizontal flexibility such that the former can now be used toprovide jcurved shapes.
Figure 3 shows an adaptation of the Former to introduce vertical flexibility such that the Former can now be used to provide a curved gradient Figure 4 shows an adaptation of the Former to show how the invention can be used for any pre-formed shape Referring to Figure 1 the Former comprises a Tail 1, a Horizontal Rib 2, a Cross-Rib 3, a Lip 4 and Block 5 The symmetry of the Former provides that the unit is completely reversible along the long axis.
Each block is secured injplace by the Tail 1 andLip 4 with each Block or Edging beingplaced adjacent to its neighbour to provide a single unit of Blocks or Edgings for setting out.
Flexibility in the horizontal and vertical plane is achieved by severing alternate (or less) Horizontal Rib ')

Claims (3)

  1. Claims 1. A Block Paving and Edging Former comprising a plastic framework which secures each Block or
    Edging firmly in place adjacent to its neighbour such that a series of Blocks or Edges can me utilised as a single unit when setting out, the framework can be readily adapted to introduce an element of flexibility to accommodate curves and complex shapes, the Former can also be produced in pre-fonned shapes.
  2. 2. A Block Paving and Edging Former as claimed in Claim I wherein horizontal flexibility is introduced by severing each alternate (or less) Horizontal Rib 2.
