Abstract

An anti-flood barrier for doors, windows, gates, passages, vents and the like comprises a U-shaped frame 1 of L-section members 5, a plate 2, rubber sealing strips 4 and bolts which pass through holes 6 to hold the assembly to the periphery of the aperture to be protected. The plate may be strengthened by bars (3, see figures) fixed to the rear. The construction may be of wood, metal, plastic or a combination.

Description

The object of "ANTI-FLOOD BAFFLE PLATES is to prevent flood water from entering HOUSES (INCLUDING) WINDOWS AND VENTS -BUILDINGS, i. e. WAREHOUSES-FACTORIES SHOPS OF ANY SIZE.
Therefore preventing damage to furnishings, stocks and manufactured products.
1. MAIN FRAME 2. BAFFLE PLATE 3. STRENGTHENING BARS 4. SEALING STRIPS FOR BAFFLE PLATES 5. SECTION OF MAIN FRAME 6. HOLES FOR BOLTS (+) CONSTRUCTION: WOOD OR METAL SIZE OF PLATES MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR DOORS WINDOWS-GATES-PASSAGES-ETC.
METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION The object can be of WOOD or Metal.
* WOOD FOR A TEMPORARY FIXTURE * METAL FOR A PERMENANT FIXTURE BUT CAN BE REMOVED FROM WALL-PLATES 1. FIRST-MAIN FRAME (1) FITTED TO WALL. CLOSE TO DOOR BY CUTTING BOTTOM OF FRAME TO REDUCE WIDTH OR INSERTING ANOTHER SECTION TO INCREASE WIDTH.
2. POSITION FRAME IN CENTRE OF APERTURE LEAVING SPACE ALL ROUND (SIDES AND BalTOM) ABOUT ins TO TAKE % OR M inch SOFT RUBBER SEALING STRIP.
3. FIND THE LENGTH OF SEALING STRIP BY PUTTING STRIP AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF FRAME. PLUS EXTRA 6 INCHES THIS GIVES THREE INCHES EITHER SIDE FOR SAFETY.
4. POSITION FRAME A SECOND TIME WITH SEAL, THIS TIME DRILL HOLES, STARTING ON THE BOTTOM. DRILL CENTRE HOLE-MOVE FRAME AND PUT RAWL PLUG INTO HOLE-V4 ins HOLE, 2 ins DEEP. INSERT 2 ins, COUNTER-SUNK SCREW AND TIGHTEN DOWN FIRMLY. NOW YOU CAN DRILL THE REMAINING HOLES AFTER PLUMBING THE UPRIGHT POSITION OF THE FRAME AND MAKING SURE THAT THE PLATE IS RIGHT ANGLE TO THE WALL AND THAT THE MAIN FRAME ANGLE IS OUTWARD, AND THE PLATE IS FllTED TO THE "FLOODSIDE" WITH THE STRENGTHENING BARS INSIDE. IT IS ADVISABLE TO HAVE A TUBE OF BOSTIC SEALER TO SEAL ANY DOUBTFUL JOINT.
