Double walls; reinforced block--work walls; wallties.-Wire cross-ties b for hollow walls are welded to longitudinal reinforcing members a and are adapted to lie within the vertical joints. of the wall so as to ensure close jointing of the bricks &c. The. longitudinal members lie between the courses on each side of the cavity d and U or V-shaped bends in the cross-ties b are disposed centrally of the cavity. Three longitudinal members a may be provided, as in Fig. 4, two of which lie in the thicker portion of the wall.
