Description

Cocksour handle with intrusion system The present invention relates to a cocksour handle for casement windows consisting of a pillow block which is attachable to the casement frame and bears a pivoted handle which, near its swivelling axis, is provided with a cocksDur fastener, and a strike plate with an s 1 i surface, inclined l~ana a~plateau on which the fastener can be slid, which plate is attachable to the frame of the casement sash.
Cockspur handles of this kind are known. Particularly in case of windows the frames of which are built up of plastic hollow sections there is the danger that the window frame can be broken open by means of a solid screw driver or a mortise chisel, since the frame section, which is relatively thin at its edges, becomes bent in case it is broken open by leverage and the casement fastener, which is in closed position, slips from the strike plate to the side.
It is accordingly the object of the present invention to provide a cockspur handle for casements in which breaking ooen a casement window locked by a cockspur handle is rendered more difficult.
According to the present invention this object is achieved in that a projecting part is placed on the plateau of the strike plate, and a groove accomodating said projecting part is positioned in the side of the cockspur fastener sliding on the strike plate.
With such a cockspur handle the window cannot be broken oDen, since even in case of bending the stop ridge of the casement frame section, the fastener cannot slip sideways from the striking plate. instead the jut on the plateau of the strike plate maintains the connection with the cockspur fastener being in closed position.
Advantageously, the jut is mushroom-shaped, and the groove is undercut according to the form of said jut in order to have positive fit. Thus, a positive connection with the projecting part on the strike plate is effected when the cockspur handle is pushed into the closed position and breaking open the casement is additionally made harder.
The arrangement of groove and jut engaging therein cannot be interchanged from the kinematic point of view. since a jut at the gliding side of the cocksour handle would damage the inner lateral edge of the casement sash on closing the window. If such a projec- tion at the cockspur fastener can be Dushed out and withdrawn. the -projecting Dart can be pushed out after the window has been closed, thus effecting interlocking between cockspur fastener and striking plate.
Prior to opening the cockspur fastener, the projecting part is withdrawn. A corresponding cockspur handle is characterized in that a recess for receiving a locking gudgeon is positioned in the plateau of the strike plate, and a device for pushing forward and withdrawing a locking gudgeon is positioned in the cockspur fastener. In particular, the locking pin can be moved forward into the closed position by means of a closing cylinder, and, after the closing cylinder has been opened by means of a key, the locking gudgeon can be moved back into the open position so that subsequently the cockspur handle can be turned into the open position.
The following description is a more detailed illustration of embodiments of the present invention with reference to the drawings. In the drawings Figure 1 shows a top view on a cockspur handle ac cording to the present invention, Figure 2 shows a view according to sectional line II-II of Figure 1, Figure 3 shows a view according to sectional line III-III of Figure 2, Figure 4 represents a sectional view according to Figure 3 of a modified embodiment.
Figure 5 shows a frontal view on the cocksDur handle with pushable locking gudgeon in the cock spur fastener, Figure 6 shows a top view on the cocksDur handle ac cording to Figure 5, Figure 7 shows a view in the direction VII of Figure .
Figures 1 to 3 represent a cockspur handle for casement windows consisting of a pedestal 3 which is attached to the casement frame 1 and bears handle 4 being rotatable about axis 6 and provided, near its rotatable axis 6. with a cockspur fastener 5, and of a strike plate 8 which is attached to frame 2 and pro sliding surface vided with an inclined # 16 and a plateau 17 on which the cockspur 5 is slid. Handle 4 with cockspur fastener 5 conseQuently is in closed position. In order to ooen the window, the handle 4 is to be turned to the left side by 900 so that it is in the horizontal line, whereas the cockspur fastener 5 is vertical down. The casement sash 2 can be ooened in this position.
As is shown in Figure 2, the frame section of the casement sash 2 is manufactured of a plastic hollow profile. To attach the strike plate 8, a boring 10, in which a connecting branch 9 of strike plate 8 is inserted, is positioned in the rabbet of the casement frame. By means of a screw bolt 11, provided with a collar 13, and a nut 15 which supports itself on the opposite side of the stop side, the strike plate 8 is fastened to the frame 2. The screw bolt 11 is provided with a head 12 projecting over plateau 17 of strike plate 8. which head engages into a substantially dovetailed channel 19 of the cockspur fastener 5. A cross recession 14 is situated in head 12 of screw bolt 11 in order to screw in the screw bolt 11 into the nut 15. During screwing-in the nut 15, which is slightly flare-shaped at its outer side. is drawn into the hollow section and firmly clamps itself therein. The ring-shaDed flange 13 of screw bolt 11 lies in a flat recess of the strike plate 8.
As is shown in Figure 1, the groove 19 extends only so far that the cockspur 5 reaches the correct lock position. In this connection. the end of the dovetailed groove 19 can serve as a stoD for the correct closed position of the cocksDur fastener 5.
As is shown in Figure 1, the groove becomes broader towards the slightly bevelled stood edge 18.
As is shown in Figures 1 and 3, the inclined sliding surface 16 is continuously ascending towards the plateau 17 starting from the left and lower edge of the strike plate 8.
The strike plate 8 consists of a plastic material exhibiting good sliding properties and high abrasion redistance.
As is shown in Figure 3, that surface of striking plate 8 resting on the frame is provided with pins 26 to withstand torsional strains. Additionally, the strike plate 8 may be reinforced by fibre glass or steel.
In the embodiment according to Figure 4, the head 12' of screw bolt 11, which head engages in the channel 19' is formed flatly. Channel 19' is formed corre spondingl y.
In the cockspur handle according to Figures 5 to 7 the cockspur fastener 5 is provided with a device 20 with which the locking gudgeon 21 can be pushed out and pulled back. If the cocksour fastener 5 is in the lock position the locking gudgeon 21 can engage into a recess 22 of strike plate 8'. The strike Dlate 8' made of plastic material is provided with a steel reinforcement 23 which, together with strike plate 8', is screwed to the frame 2 by means of the fastening screw 25. Pins 26 serve as torsional safety device for strike plate 8'. The steel sheet reinforcement 23 is folded upwardly near the outer edge of the strike plate 8'.
The device for pushing along and withdrawing the locking gudgeon 21 is a cylinder lock 20 which can be brought into the open position by means of a key. In the open position the locking gudgeon 21 is withdrawn.
After turning the handle 4 and the cockspur fastener 5 into the closed position. the locking gudgeon 21 can be brought into a closed position by means of the key, in which position it projects into the recess 22 of strike plate 8'. Accordingly, the cockspur handle can be locked in the closed position by means of this closing cylinder 20 so that the cockspur handle cannot be opened. Only if the closing cylinder 20 is turned into the open position by means of a key - thus withdrawing the locking gudgeon again - can be cockspur fastener 5 be moved into the open position.
