Abstract

An interchangeable infant's seat can double up as a car seat as well as a pram seat. The frame of the pram or the frame of the car seat remain in place and are available for use. The infant is kept strapped into the seat which is subsequently, rapidly, dipped into the pram's chassis or the car seat's chassis. As the infant increases in size with age the seat itself can be replaced by a larger version without any need to replace the pram's chassis or the car seat's chassis. <IMAGE>

Description

Interchangeable baby's car and Pram seat Currently, parents who transport infants by meams of a car need to have both a baby's car seat kept in place by a seat belt, and also a pram for when they arrive at their destination. The seat occupies space in the car as does the pram.
This invention obviates the need for separate baby's car seat and a separate pram. Instaled, the baby's car seat is unclipped from a lightweight frame which can be left in place on the rear seat of the car (see figure 2), and the baby's car seat ( the carrying portion ) clipped into the pram's frame ( see figure 1 ). So, the baby's car seat doubles as a pram seat and as a car seat. This also permits the pram's chassis and the car seat chassis to accept varying sizes of seats which would depend on the size of infant to be carried.
The pram's chassis is lightweight and can be collapsible frame to save space when carried in the luggage section of a car.
Whereas the seat chassis in the car is retained by a seat belt although this chassis can also be collapsible so that the whole unit can be folded away when it is not in use or needed. It allows the seat that carries the infant to be quickly removed and clipped into place in the pram's chassis or vice versa, clipped into the car seat's chassis.
Figure 1 shows the infant's carrying seat locked in place in the car seat's chassis, which in turn is secured by a car seat belt.
Figure 2 shows the seat in place, secured to the pram's chassis. During the whole transfer prccedure, the infant remains strapped into the carrying seat.

Claims (2)

  1. Claims 1. The chassis of the pram and that of the car seat accept the interchangeable seat proper. The interchangeable seat is held in place by a set of quick release mechanisms,
  2. 2. The interchangeable seat itself can be of varying sizes to accommadate infants of varying sizes. But all the seats clip into a standard purpose made pram chassis and car seat chassis by the same locking mechanism.
