Carding-engines.-To improve the sepaxation of the slivers or ribbons in a condenser carding. engine, the clothing of the swift preceding the condenser and its associated rollers is divided and formed on spaced rings. Where more than one swift is employed, the divided clothing may be used throughout. The width of the strips of clothing may be varied so that the clear space between them decreases progressively from the last doffer back to the feed. The invention may be applied to carding-engines with either ball. feed or lap feed.
