Abstract

A bracket to fit a slotted concrete fence post has a central support (vertical in use), optionally with a scroll end attached to its top end, and attached to the central support is a fixed shaped arm and an adjustable shaped arm all securely held in place by one set screw. <IMAGE>

Description

BRACKET TO FIT SLOTTED CONCRETE FENCE POST This invention relates to a bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts.

Fitting brackets to concrete fence posts usually entails drilling the post and fitting the bracket to the post using screws and some form of rawlplug. As most concrete fence posts are very hard and contain steel reinforcement rods it is a very difficult and time consuming procedure.

Accordingly the invention is provided with shaped arms one of which is adjustable to allow for variation in post size, a scroll to anchor the invention to the top of the post, a supporting arm to provide increased side-ways stability on the invention in the first form and two tapped holes to facilitate the fitting of ancillary accessories in the second form. The invention is held securely in place with one set screw.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows in perspective the bracket in the first form.

Figure 2 shows in perspective the bracket in the second form.

Figure 3 shows plan and side elevation of bracket in the first form in relation to a slotted concrete fence post.

Figure 4 shows in perspective the bracket in the first form in relation to a slotted concrete fence post.

Figure 6 shows in perspective the bracket in the first form with suggested use as a hanging bascket holder.

Referring to the drawings the bracket in the first form Fig. 1 comprises of a central support with or without a scroll end 1, attatched to this is a fixed arm 2 and fixed support 3. The bracket is secured to the slotted concrete fence post by means of slotted adjustable arm 4 and secured in place by set screw 5.Suggested uses are illustrated in Figs. 6-7-8 in order to provide variations in the use of the bracket in the first form Fig.1 , Fig.2 illustrates the bracket in the second form with suggested uses as in Figs. 9-10 To fit the bracket in the first form Fig. 1 to a slotted concrete fence post the set screw 5 is slackened to enable adjustable arm 4 to be fully extended, the fixed arm 2 is hooked into slot in concrete post on one side and arm 4 is hooked into opposite slot in concrete post on other side and pushed tightly towards fixed arm 2, the set screw 5 is then tightened to secure the bracket in place as Figs. 3-4. The scroll end on centre support 1 sitting firmly on top of the concrete fence post and fixed support 3 fitting around both edges of concrete fence post.

Fig. 5 illustrates the bracket in the second form attatched to a slotted concrete fence post as described in the previous paragraph.

1 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts is provided with shaped arms one of which is adjustable to allow for variation in post size, a central support with scroll to anchor the bracket on the top of the post, a support arm to provide increased stability of the bracket in the first form and two tapped holes to facilitate the fitting of ancillary accessories in the second form, all securely held in place by one set screw.

2 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a centre support with or without scroll end is provided.

3 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts as claimed in Claim 2 wherein fixing means are provided by a fixed shaped arm.

4 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim s wherein fixing means are provided by slotted adjustable shaped arm.

5 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts as claimed in Claim 2 to Claim 4 wherein means are provided to secure slotted adjustable shaped arm in a fixed position by means of a set screw.

6 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts as claimed in Claim 2 to Claim 5 wherein fixed support is provided to increase stabiliy of bracket in the first form.

7 A bracket to fit slotted concrete fence posts as claimed in Claims 1 to 6 wherein variations in fitting can be obtained by separate brackets in the second form.
