Abstract

226,274. Forsberg, E. A. Sept. 18, 1923. Filtering.-In filters comprising a pile of laminae of paper or other non- porous material pressed together between adjustable end plates on a connecting member, the end plates are adapted to make joint with the upper and lower ends of the casing in such a manner that when the joints are broken, the pressure on the laminae is not released. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the laminae are held together by metal end-plates 2 one of which is provided with a fluted stem 3 on to the other end of which the other plate 2 is screwed. Joint is made with the ends 5, 6 of the easing by means of rubber rings 4. In a modification of this form a perforated tube, screw-threaded at both ends, takes the place of the stem 3. Rings 10, Fig. 5, with spherical seatings may be interposed between the plates 2 and the laminae. Fig. 6 shows a form in which one of the end plates 2 forms a cap for an aperture in the cover 5 into which it screws and through which the pile can be removed.
