Abstract

226,064. Richardson, W. W. Feb. 13, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Garages.-A garage is arranged as a building of tower formation in a number of floors, and a counterbalanced lift 6 is provided in the centre of the building, each floor being arranged around the lift shaft as a gallery divided into a series of spaces 8, each adapted to accommodate one vehicle, and means are provided to move each car longitudinally or laterally at will to occupy a space. The entrance and exit to the building may be the same in the centre of the ground floor, or arranged on opposite sides. A transporting platform for use in the garage is formed of metal sheet 21, with edge stiffeners and raised portions on the top surface, to form guides for the vehicle wheels. The platform is provided with rollers 26 on its lower surface, on which it is rolled laterally, and the garage floor is provided with fixed rollers 43 disposed in directions at right-angles to the platform rollers, so that for one direction of movement of the platform the rollers in the floor act as rails, while for the other direction of motion the rollers on the platform act as rails.
