Abstract

A vehicle tire valve assembly includes a ring-shaped rubber cushion 7 mounted on a valve nozzle 4 which is incorporated with the inner tube 8 of a vehicle tire. A nut 5 and washer 6 force a wheel rim 9 to squeeze the ring-shaped rubber cushion 7 in between the rim 9 and the inner tube 8 to prevent escape of air through a clearance 41 in the event of puncturing of the inner tube 6. <IMAGE>

Description

STRUCTURE OF TIRE VALVE ASSENBLY This present invention relates to a structure of tire valve assembly.
In recent years, because the aconomical, industrial and business prosperity people's livelthood has been greatly improved in all details, and motorsysles and automob.les become so popular. As a consequence, the frequency of traffic accidents has been incrassing year after year. AmûnS the various traffic accidents, tire blou-out problem is one of the common causes. Because the conventional tire valve assembly can not detain the exhausted air from blowing out of a tire when such a tire is punetured, accident may happen easily. The conventional tire valve assembly, as illustrated in Fig. 1, is generally comprised of a valve nozzle attached to an inner tube of a vehicle tire and penetrate through a wheel rim .If a tire is punctured by an iron nail or any pointed object to exhaust, the inflated air is instantaneously forced to blow out of the tire through the punctured hole and the clearance between the valve nozzle and the wheel rim (see Figs. 2).
If a tire is punctured to exhaust during driving under high speed condition, te vehicle may suddenly loose its balance to cause accident. Further, a car or motorcycle is generally equipped with a spare tre. However, the inflated air may gradually get exhausted from a spare tire during storage. Some vehicles may be equipped with solid or tubeless tires which can effic-ently eliminate tire b1.ow-out problem. However, solid tires can only be used fcr the small commercial motor vehicle: within 1.75 ton. om;n-on motor vehicles are generally aquipped with pneumatio tires.
An object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle tire valve assembly which can greatly detain the inflated air from blowing out of a tire when such a tire is punctured by a pointed object.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle tire valve assembly which can be used on heavy-duty automobile tires as well as light-duty motorcycle or bicycle tires.
Other objects and the features and advantages of the present invention gill be fully understood from the follouing detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the annexed drawings, in which: Fig. 1 is a schematic drawing illustrating a tire having a tire valve in accordance with the prior art; Fig. 2 is a schematic drauing illustrating a condition of the tire valve of Fig. 1 when tie tire is punctured to exhaust b a pointed object; Fig. 3 is a sectional view illustrating a @ re having a tire valve in accordance with the present invention : Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional elevation of the tire valve of Fig. 3; and Fig. 5 is a schematic drawing illustrating a condition of the tire valve of Fig. 3 when the tire is punctured to exhaust by a pointed object.
Referring to the various drawings attached herewith, a detailed description of the structure of tire valve assembly of the present invention is as follows: Referring to Figs. 3 and 4, a tire valve assembly of the present invention is generally comprised of a valve nozzle 4, a screw nut 5, a washer 6 and a ring-shaped rubber cushion 7.The valve nozzle 4 is incorporated with the inner tube 8 of a vehicle tire and comprises a thread portion 40 externally on its central part for the mounting thereon of the screw nut 5. Tha bottom end of the valve nozzle 4 has a sooth outer surface suitable for the mounting thereon of the rubber cushion 7 The center hole of the ring-shaped rubber ushion 7 is smaller than the outer diameter of the lower end of the valve nozzle 4 so that it can be tightly secured to the bottom end of the valve nozzle 4.The valve nozzle 4 comprises therein a check valve to control the passin of air flow through a round hole 42 into the inner tube d. After the mounting of the ring-shaped cushion 7, the valve nozzle 4 is inserted through a wheel rim 9. After the insertion of the valve nozzle 4 through the rim 9, a clearance 41 is left between the valve nozzle 4 and the rim. The washer 6 is then sleeved on the valve nozzle 4 and externally attached to the rim 9, and the screw nut 5 is screwed up with the valve nozzle 4 to tightly squeeze the rim 9 and the ring-shaped rubber cushion 7 together.
Referring to Fig. 5, if the inner tube 3 is punctured to exhaust by a pointed object 90, the exhausted air from the inner tube can nt flow out of the outer tire through the clearance 41 between the rim 9 and the valve nozzle 4 since it is tightly sealed by the ring-shaped rubber cushion 7. Because the pointed object 90 is tightly snapped by the outer tire, few quantity (about one percent) cf the exhausted air from the inner tube 8 blows out of te outer tire. Therefore. the majority of the exhausted air is remained inside the tire and the tire can keep functionin for a certain period of tine. Thus, a drivar will have sufficient time to get the tire be fixed.

Claims (7)

1. An inner tube for a tire mountable on the rim of a wheel, the inner tube comprising a valve nozzle assembly having first sealing means locatable externally around the valve nozzle for location between the inner tube and wheel rim, second sealing means locatable externally around the valve nozzle for location on the opposed side of the rim to that against which the first sealing means is contactable, and clamping means mounted on the valve nozzle for rigidly fixing the valve nozzle relative to the rim and simultaneously comprising the first and second sealing means against the rim to seal the aperture in the rim through which the valve nozzle projects.
2. An inner tube as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first and second seal means are washers of compressible material.
3. An inner tube as claimed in claim 2, wherein the compressible material is rubber.
4. An inner tube as claimed in claim 3, wherein the first rubber washer has a central aperture which is smaller than the outside diameter of the valve nozzle.
5. A vehicle tire valve assembly including: a valve nozzle incorporated with the inner tube of a vehicle tire and comprising an outer thread externally in its middle part and inserted through rim; a ring-shaped rubber cushion having a center hole smaller than the outer diameter of said valve nozzle and being sleeved on said valve nozzle adjacent to said inner tube; a washer sleeved on said valve nozzle externally attached to said tire rim; and a screw nut screwed up with said outer thread of said valve nozzle to force said washer and said tire rim to squeeze said ringshaped rubber cushion in between said inner tube and said rim.
6. An inner tube substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to, and as illustrated in, Figs 3 to 5 of the accompanying drawings.
7. A tire valve assembly substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to, and as illustrated in, Figs 3 to 5 of the accompanying drawings.
