Abstract

A valve assembly for containers containing a pressurised fluid e.g. a gas, said container including a threaded boss 1 for coupling the container to an appliance supplied from the contents of the container, and a valve mechanism (8, 10) located within a valve housing (6), the housing (6) being located within an insert (3) securely fixed within the boss (1) and opposite an aperture (11) therein, a sealing ring (9) is located between the insert (3) and the valve housing (6) adjacent the aperture (11) such as normally to inhibit egress of the contents of the container, the insert (3) providing reinforcement as the part of the container where damage may occur. <IMAGE>
