Abstract

A fluid flow coupling comprises: a connector member (A) having means for attachment (11) to a pressurised gas container, a neck (14), a passage (16) extending throughout the neck and a non-return valve in the passage; and a mounting member (B) having means (23, 33, 34, 27, 26) for locking the neck in the mounting member, a movable valve operating member (59) for operating the valve in the neck, and means (39, 37, 45) for moving the valve operating member. The connector member includes safety features such as a burster disc (83) and a passage (86) leading to a zone which, when the connector member and mounting member are assembled together, is bounded by the connector member and the mounting member. The mounting member contains passage means (90) leading to a discharge (91) which discharge may include connecting means for connection to a safety discharge conduit (94) with the provision of a non-return valve (93) between the said zone and the said conduit. The coupling is particularly suitable for oxygen bottles used in aircraft enabling them to be easily replaced when empty without allowing the escape of large quantities of oxygen. <IMAGE>
