A transparent plant cover has inner and outer eyelets 10 and 11 whereby it may be supported by hooked stakes 12 above a plant in the manner shown. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Garden plant or small shrub cover This invention relates to the use of a substantially transparent sheet used as an overhead cover to protecta garden plant orsmall shrub.
To preventadverseweatherfrom damaging plants and small shrubs it is recommended in the gardening world to coverthem with a piece of glass our similar material propped up on the plant or supported on stones over the plant.
These methods are not very satisfactory or versatile and can lead to accidents and personal injuryiffor instance, glass was used.
According to the present invention there is provided a su bsta ntially tra nsparent sheet fitted with eyelets or the like to enable it to be attached directly to a set of stakes which support it above the plant orsmall shrub and acts as a coverto give the required weather protection.
A specific embodiment ofthe invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Fig. 1 illustrates the flat transparent plastic sheet cover.
Fig. 2 illustrates one of the supporting stakes.
Fig.3 shows in perspective the cover in position on the stakes and ready to slide up the stakes for attachment at the top.
Fig. 4 shows in perspective the cover in the final position attached to the top ofthe supporting stakes.
Referring to the drawing, the cover with the inner and outer eyelets 10 and 11 respectively already fitted as shown in Fig. 1 is held overthe plant or small shrub.
The straight end of one ofthe supporting stakes 12 shown in Fig 2 is then passed through an inner eyelet 10 from above and pushed intotheground.
The remaining stakes are then also passed through the inner eyelets from above in the same manner and pushed into the ground as illustrated in Fig. 3.
Thecoveristhen raised to thetop ofthe stakes and on to the curved section of the loop. Next, any one of the outer eyelets 11 is selected and hooked onto the open end of the loop from below and the cover becomes locked into position automatically at the top ofthestake by the two eyelets th rough which the stake has passed.
The other outer eyelets are then fastened to the stakes in the same way and the cover is now in its final position as shown in Fig.4.
The cover heightabovethe plantorsmall shrub can then be adjusted by raising or lowering the stakes in the ground.
To dismantle the cover from the supporting stakes the steps described above are carried out in the and acts as a coverto give the required weather protection.
2. Agarden plantorsmall shrub cover substantially as described herein with reference to Figs. 1-4 of the accompanying drawing.

New Claims 1-6.
1. A garden plant or small shrub cover comprising a substantially transparent sheet, a pluralityofground engageable stakes, and eyelets or the like in the sheet for releasably receiving the stakes whereby the latter can retain the sheet in a spaced relation to the ground.
2. Acoveraccordingto claim 1, in which the substantially transparent sheet is made of plastics material.
3. Acoveraccording to claim 1 or claim 2, in which the stakes each include a lower section adapted for insertion into the ground.
4. A cover according to claim 3, in which each of the stakes includes a hook at an end thereof remote from the lower section.
5. A cover according to claim 4, in which the eyelets are arranged in pairs, each pair being adapted to receive opposite end parts ofthe hook ofthe respective stake.
6. A cover according to claim 5, in which is provided a substantially square sheet, a pair of eyelets adjacent to each cornerthereof, and four stakes.
