Abstract

Apparatus for decorticating shrimps of the crangon vulgaris and/or crangon species. It is characterized by a separate arrangement of a supply unit (2) and a decorticating unit (1); the first unit is used to sort out the shrimps, to separate them one by one and bring them to the decorticating unit (1) and comprises an oscillating conveyor provided with a magazine designed to separate the shrimps one by one (3) as well as with a transport channel (5) leading to the decorticating unit (1). On the travel path of the second unit are arranged an alignment station (6) and an orientation station (7) used to provide a proper alignment, as well as a control station (8) to reject the shrimps which are not perfectly aligned. The decorticating unit (1) which follows is provided with rhythmically moving elements for positioning and retaining purposes, decorticating tools as well as unloading elements, thereby enabling to perform a decortication owing to a relative motion between the retainer elements and the decorticating tools which are comprised of a vice clamp (53) seizing the tail shell and a clamp (51) for the flesh. <IMAGE>
