Abstract

A fuel injector comprises a nozzle holder (4) formed with a hollow shank (16) for mounting a nozzle body (12) comprising a valve needle having a valve head (21), a closure spring (13) and an abutment member (15) for the spring, the body including fuel bores (24), the body (12) having a head (17) of the same external diameter as the shank, and being formed with a neck (18) by which the body is secured in the shank. The valve spring is housed within the shank, adjacent the wall of the shank, and the valve head formed of a diameter no greater than the external diameter of the shank. <IMAGE>
