Abstract

A device for measuring torque in rotating machinery comprises a disc which is fitted so that the torque is transmitted through the material of the disc between the centre and the periphery. A series of apertures (16, 18, 30) in the disc allow a controlled amount of flexure of material to take place and the strain is monitored by means of strain gauges (A, B, C, D, A', B', C', D') bonded to the walls of the apertures and connected in a "Wheatstone bridge" measuring circuit. <IMAGE>
