Abstract

To avoid the need for a special removal tool to detach a free wheel from a cycle wheel hub (18), a boss (8) of the free wheel is secured to the hub by interengaging splines and grooves (14, 16) on the boss and hub which extend parallel, or are inclined, to the rotational axis X-X. Centering is obtained by engaging a shouldered portion (221) of a wheel axle (22) in the inner race of a ball bearing assembly (21) of the free wheel, with a nut (23) being provided to prevent lateral disengagement. <IMAGE>
