Abstract

The plug and socket housings of a multipole electrical plug and socket connector are provided with a detent tooth or the like 6 on a resilient arm 4 of one of the housings (2) to engage a shoulder 11 in the other housing (1). To release the coupling, the arm carries a push button 7 which stands proud of the housings, so that depression of the push button releases the detent from engagement with the shoulder. To overcome the initial resistance to separation of the housings, the push button has a cam surface 8 which when the button is depressed acts against the other housing to push the housings apart. <IMAGE>
