Abstract

In a tab inserter employing an adhesive-coated strip (1) which is unwound from a roll, advanced by a feed device (6) along a guideway (B) and cut into tabs of predetermined length by a knife (F) at the end of the guideway, the strip is provided on opposite sides with a central band of adhesive (3) and a silicon coating (4) respectively and is relieved on the silicon-coated side to provide a continuous central recess (5) which accommodates, without coming into contact with, the adhesive band when the strip is wound into a roll, and those parts of the feed device (6) and guideway (B) which normally engage the strip during its passage from the roll to the knife are also centrally relieved to accommodate the adhesive band on the strip. <IMAGE>
