Abstract

An apparatus for coating granules, such as pill cores, and for drying the coated granules with a gaseous drying medium, e.g. air. A drum 1 is rotatably mounted about its drum axis 2 in a frame 4 which may be inclined about a bearing axis transversely to the drum axis 2. Penta-shaped ventilating projections 18 having perforated wall sections 19 are internally provided on cylindrical supporting wall 7 of the drum. Hollow blades 23 are mounted on conical side walls 8, 9, which blades, in the direction of movement, at the front have a sieve-like ventilating area 25. One ventilating projection 18 and a hollow blade 23 and each of the two side walls are connected to a distributor 30 via a connecting passage 21, which distributor constantly supplies drying air into three lower of the nine connecting passages 21. The air may reach the outer atmosphere through upper connecting passages or through hollow boss 11. <IMAGE>
