Abstract

Seams, which may be sewn seams, are set, if desired continuously with their production, by a folder that folds back the seam allowances each to lie against the fabric reverse side on either side of the seam while the fabric face sides are adjacent each other and while the seam is constrained against lateral displacement due to the folder's being close to the needle and presser foot, which effectively control the position of the seam in the folder. The fabric face sides are opened only in the region of the seam by a "thick" blade so that the seam is pressed flat.
