Abstract

The attenuator for the attenuation of the shock wave generated upon rupture of a frangible diaphragm 11 e.g. at the outlet of a rocket combustion chamber 13 includes a reflector plate 14 and a guide nozzle 16 disposed at the high and low pressure sees respectively of the diaphragm. Plate 14 may be supported by struts 15 and be thermally degradable. <IMAGE>
