Abstract

This invention relates to a pump e.g. for mounting in a petrol tank comprises a rotor 12 rotatable about a first axis and containing at least one bore 22 extending radially within the rotor 12 with respect to said first axis, a piston 24 slidably received in the bore 22 and a stroke member 29 associated with said piston 24 and constraining said piston 24 when the rotor 12 rotates about said first axis to orbit about a second axis parallel to said first axis so that said piston 24 reciprocates in said bore 22 through a stroke determined by the spacing between the first and second axis, said piston having coupled thereto a separately formed U-shaped member 26 whose limbs extend parallel to said axis, and said stroke member 29 including a crosshead 27 engaged by said member 26, said crosshead 27 having a pair of parallel oppositely presented faces co-operating respectively with said limbs of said member 26 and rotating in use about said second axis as said rotor 12 rotates, whereby when said rotor and said crosshead rotate about their respective axes the piston is caused to reciprocate in said bore, said U- shaped member 26 reciprocating across said surfaces of the crosshead 27 in a direction transverse to said axes. The stroke member 29 is movable to adjust the piston stroke. <IMAGE>
