Abstract

A tunnel lining 1 comprises a number of ring sections 2 arranged axially end to end along the tunnel, each ring section comprising a number of arcuate segments 4, 5, 6, 7 which are each wedge shaped in the axial direction and which are fitted together in the circumferential direction so that their wedge faces c, d mate with each other, at least one of the segments 7, of each ring section being axially offset from the others so that it projects into a recess 9 formed in an adjacent ring section by a correspondingly offset segment 7 of the adjacent ring section. In order to fill the recess 9 completely, each of the segments 5 and 6 adjacent the axially offset segment 7 is provided with an axially projecting portion e which fits into the recess alongside the narrower end of the offset segment. In this way the ring sections 2 of the tunnel lining are circumferentially interlocked with each other. <IMAGE>
