Abstract

Railway points in which a movable rail portion 1 has an end alternatively alignable with a fixed mainline 2 and spur rail portions 3. The end of the movable rail portion is pivotally connected to a coupler member 12 of a quadrilateral linkage in which the coupler member is pivotally connected between two links 10, 11 the opposite ends of the links being supported by fixed pivots. In order to provide a narrow joint gap in a strong construction the geometry of the linkage is such that the end of the movable rail moves in a substantially straight line between its alternative positions aligned with the two fixed rail portions. <IMAGE>
